The Colquitt county people now have
their own Republican Senator and he will be serving in a Republican
controlled Senate with help from a Republican controlled House and the
legislation of these two hoses will be administered by a Republican
President.

How does it feel to have a Governor called "Sonny?" Like it or not that
is what you have. Sonny won with 51.8% of the vote v. Roy's 45.9% with
95% of votes counted.
Roy did not run well in Colquitt County, but all is not lost, he still
has the support of Billy, R.L. and 98% of the Shaw district.

WE DON'T HAVE ONE.

I saw a lot of Saxby yard signs in Greenville, Ga. I suggested to a
station attendant that they must like Saxby. He says, I don't know, we
don't have one. I have never eaten at one, but I think they have one in
Macon. ( He evidently was thinking of Zaxbys fast food restaurant.) Any
way Greenville has one now.

BAD NEWS FOR RED NECKS IN PICK UPS.

When the legislature meets again the do-goobers left in the Democrat
Party will try to amend the seat belt law to require pick-up truck
drivers to use safety belts. Tom Murphy, the Speaker of the House drove a pick-up at home and
demanded that pickups be exempt from the seat belt law. He lost his
election. So Get Ready, Red necks.Ragan appears to have lost his seat.
With 99% of the vote in this race showed him with 49.9 % to 50.1 percent
for Republican John Bullock. He seems to have been a victim of bad
advice on the Georgia flag.

NON PARTISAN ELECTIONS FOR COUNTY OFFICES.

This might be an idea which may not float now. We have two Republican
and two Democrat house members representing Colquitt County.
The name of the game was patronage. This means that the party in the
county which dominates gets the appointments. The Democrat/Republican
electoral system worked for many years. Then it appeared that Colquitt
County was leaning Republican. This would mean that the old Court House
gang might be left out of patronage. So they suddenly decided that the
system should be changed to do away with the two party system.
Now that we have a Republican Governor, I seriously doubt that the
Republican legislature members are going to approve local legislation to
throw away that hard earned perk,

FOILED ON THEIR OWN PETARD.

The Democrats was in charge of reapportionment so they took this
opportunity to try to make it difficult to elect Republicans. It appears
to have back fired. As late as last night National Democrat leaders were
crowing that Ga. would have a majority Democrat legislative group again.
Mr. Gephardt is going to have to go back to the drawing aboard. He will
retain his three black members but he is not assured on any more
Democrat Congressmen. (As I write this, two races haven't been called
yet.)

THEY TRIED TO STEAL THE ELECTION IN ARKANSAS.

Remember last election in St. Louis a Democrat Judge ruled that
predominately Democrat districts could stay open until 12:p.m. Many
Democrats voters were rounded up and voted before a federal judge over
ruled that decision.

They did it this time in Arkansas. Some Democrat Judge allowed some
predominately Democrat Black districts to stay open longer, an
opportunity denied to heavy Republican districts.
Democrats got one Senator by default. Their candidate was losing. State
law prohibited substitution 50 days before an election. The Democrat
withdrew 31 days before the election. The Democrat controlled Supreme
court deemed this O.K. It seems to have worked. The replacement won the
Senate seat.

They tried to steal another one when Senator Paul Welstone was killed
just prior to the election, they substituted Walter Mondale, and then
tried to have the previously cast absentee ballots cast for Welstone
count for Mondale. This didn't work.
This train of thought could go until I ran out of space. I think there
are enough illustrations to cast doubt on anything that local Democrats
tell you that a Non Partisan election would be best for the county. It
won't but it will certainly be best for present Democrat party hacks.

THIS COUNTY HAS FOUR REPRESENTATIVES AND TWO SENATORS AT THE STATE
LEVEL.

This came about in an effort to keep Republicans out of office. Two
years from now Republicans will control both the Georgia House and
Senate. They should then reapportion in such a way that County such as
Colquitt would not be split. If Democrat candidates find this makes it
hard for them to be elected, too bad. It's a poor game that only one
side can play.

____________________________________________________________________________

THE X-CHAIRMAN'S CORNER:
Southern Politics and Colquitt County

FRANKLIN SUTTON

Tuesday, November 13, 2002

Local Ellenton businessman Frank Sutton has represented Colquitt County
in the Georgia legislature for years and most recently was Chair of the
County Commission.

fsutton@alltel.net

Last week, I mentioned some thoughts on a nonpartisan election and gave
my reservations about this proposal and I also mentioned that it was all
about political patronage. "To the winner belongs the spoils," has
always been a slogan whether the winner was Republican or Democrat. Now
it appears that the "whiners" are moaning and groaning because the
spoils will be going to the Republican leadership in Colquitt County.
They couldn't stop the Republicans at the ballot so they want to change
the rules of election by nonpartisan elections so that there will be no
Republicans or Democrats.

Patronage has always been practiced, but is hard to prove. The fact that your supporters have preferential treatment in State jobs is
difficult to prove. To establish such is complex and proof is demanding.
There is one facet of patronage where state records readily attest to
this fact. This is in the rental of buildings to State facilities. These
rents often go to political leadership and more often than not are
un-advertised, unbid, and at excessive rates.

I already know about this, but my observations would only be considered partisan. In order to prevent this, I have written a letter to Austin Scott asking that he secure these rental records and send them to, the Moultrie Observer, The Colquitt Shopper, the Buyers Guide and myself. In order to avoid duplication of effort, I also asked that a copy be sent to Senator elect John Bulloch, and Representative elect Ed Rynders. To change the election rules legislation must be introduced as local legislation and be signed by a majority of the local delegation. It must also pass through the Justice department.

The lawyer from Tifton who labeled Mayor McIntosh and Gene Vereen as the two most powerful political people in Colquitt County offended some other Democrats who thought of as themselves as more powerful. After the election, this came at a bad time. Their batters struck out. One had given $2000.00 to assure himself of patronage. I suppose that his fees will increase now that there will be no l patronage going his way.

Democrats are now whining that it is unfair for a person to run as a Democrat and change to a Republican after the election. Where were they when a Republican Senator died and was replaced by an appointed
Democrat?

Below is a copy of the letter.

Austin Scott
Ga. House of Representatives
501 Legislative Office Bldg.
Atlanta, GA. 30303

Dear Austin;

As you have observed, Colquitt County is now a predominately Republican
County. This was evidenced by the election of county offices and the
recent results of the vote in the General Election.
Shortly after the election of county offices the Honorable William
Fallin spearheaded an effort to make local elections in Colquitt County
nonpartisan. This was followed by an orchestrated performance contrived
to make it appear that there was a ground swell of support. There was
not.

It is apparent that the loss of political patronage was the fear and not
to save money on elections as claimed. Partisan elections had served the
Democrats well while they were assured of Democrat control. Facing a
loss of control, they now want to go nonpartisan.

Patronage is difficult to prove even though the practice is widely known
of and accepted as spoils of victory. There is, however; one phrase of
patronage which is readily provable by records. This phase is the space
rent of government buildings.

In order that this not be considered a nonconformist zealot charge, I
ask you to obtain State records deemed public information relative to
buildings in Colquitt County owned by the State and its agencies, the
amount of the lease, and the ones to whom the leases are let. Also
indicate those, if any, which were advertised to be rented and for which
competitive bids were obtained. I believe that this will prove my point.
I would like you to send a copy to me, Senator Rooney Bowen,
Representative Elect Rynders, Senator Elect John Bulloch, The Moultrie
Observer, The Colquitt Shopper, and the Buyers Guide.

By law to make the change to nonpartisan elections legislation must be
entered as local legislation and by practice the majority of the
elective delegation must approve it.

I ask you to consider this request of the Honorable Fallin very
closely. I believe that it will be very counterproductive to the
Republican position in Colquitt County. Recent events in reapportionment
and other actions indicate that the Georgia Democratic Party and it key
supporters are more interested in their own political and financial well
being that of their constituency.

I am enclosing a copy of the Op-Ed written by me and published in the
Moultrie Observer.

Sincerely;

Franklin Sutton

you

Here is the Political Report for Colquitt County from
Franklin Sutton
____________________________________________________
From: Franklin Sutton

Date: Fri, 8 Nov 2002 05:41:30 -0800

IT TOOK ALMOST 73 YEARS, BUT I LIVED TO SEE THE DAY.
Georgia in now a two party state. It's a poor game that only one
side can play.

tt

Here is the Political Report for Colquitt County from
Franklin Sutton
____________________________________________________
From: Franklin Sutton <fsutton@alltel.net>

Date: Fri, 8 Nov 2002 05:41:30 -0800

IT TOOK ALMOST 73 YEARS, BUT I LIVED TO SEE THE DAY.
Georgia in now a two party state.

Roy did not run well in Colquitt County, but all is not lost, he still has the support of Billy, R.L. and 98% of the Shaw district.

He lost his
election. So Get Ready, Red necks.
Ragan appears to have lost his seat.

State law prohibited substitution 50 days before an election. The Democrat withdrew 31 days before the election. The Democrat controlled Supreme court deemed this O.K. It seems to have worked. The replacement won the Senate seat.

X-Chairman's Corner week of March 21,

THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS ROCKED BY SEXUAL SCANDALS.

These homosexual people seek those situations and positions where the chances of success are better, just as adulterous men seek contacts in singles bars. The archdiocese of Boston in a move to settle sexual molesting cases out of court has agreed to payments totaling $30 million to settle molesting cases on 200 children in six parishes over the last 30 years. The archdiocese has turned over the names of about 90 priests accused of sexually abusing children in the last 50 years. Dioceses in Philadelphia, Los Angeles and St. Louis have given prosecutors the names of priests accused of abuse.

THIS IS NOT A CHURCH ISSUE!

To be sure the church is to be faulted by not dismissing and prosecuting those homosexuals who abused their position to curry sexual favors from their Juvenile male charges. They attempted to solve the problem by sweeping it under the rug and transferring those charged to other parishes. This is not a Catholic monopolistic response. Churches in our county as have schools simply ignored the issue or fired those charged leaving them to go to other areas and continue the same practices. In trying to control the scandal they made it worse. The anti church people of the press are making it a Catholic issue. It is a Catholic problem but not a Catholic issue and the Church is not responsible in any area other than the cover-up.

THIS IS PURELY A HOMOSEXUAL ISSUE.

The homosexual agenda is to designate this as a pedophile aberration. All homosexuals are not pedophiles but nearly all pedophiles are homosexual. The homosexual lobby seeks to downplay this scandal as a church scandal. It is not. If I were to start pointing the finger, I would look at the Ivy League liberals, The anti church associations, The liberal press, NAMBLA, and the ACLU who are carrying the freight for the Homosexual Lobby.

Each of these groups has been pro-active in trying to force so-called gay clergymen to the pulpit, gay scoutmasters to scouts group, gay individuals in the military, gay people as married couples, and gay couples as desirable adoptive parents. These deviants are a protected class who has the backing of the above-named groups. (O yes, the Politically Correct also.) When society makes aberrant actions not only desirable but also attempt to protect it with laws, rules and regulations, you can expect what we have gotten in Churches, Boy Scouts, and the military. These homosexual people seek those situations and positions where the chances of success are better, just as adulterous men seek contacts in singles bars. Homosexuals who target children seek out the most vulnerable situations.

We see the Boston Globe, The New York Times and the Los Angeles times writing vituperative articles trying to make this a Catholic Church issue. It is not. This is a situation which all three have promoted in previous articles seeking to place the gay community in a respectable light and to encourage legislation giving special status to these groups. They are now reaping what they have sawn with their seed bed of perversion articles.

THE ISLAMIC CHURCH IS A CHURCH OF PEACE..

Tell that to the 3000 citizens in the twin towers, the 58 Hindu worshipers burned in a train in Godhra India by Moslem supporters. Or tell it to the two Americans killed in Pakistan in church last Sunday. The following oath was found is a house in Kabul which was in use by Pakistani Islamist group. " I, Amir Maawia Siddiqu, son of Abdul Rahman Siddiqi, state in the presence of Got that I will slaughter infidels my entire lime, and with the will of God I will do these killings in the supervision and guidance with Harkat ul-Ansar." "May God give me strength in fulfilling this oath."

This type oath was found by New York Times reporters in various places vacated by the Taliban. They found lists of people from Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Jordan, Turkey, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Libya, Sudan, Somalia, Bosnia, Bangladesh, China, The Philippines, Russia, Britain, Canada and the United States. Different countries but the same religion with the same goal. This goal was not peace.

X-Chairman's Corner Week of Mar 14,2002
Franklin Sutton

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS THIS COUNTRY HEADED?

In an article by Matthew Cella of the Washington time I gleaned this bit of information. "The Arlington County Va. Board of Commissioners is calling proposals that members recite the pledge of allegiance before meetings "divisive and politically correct" and has steadfastly refused to alter its agenda to permit the pledge." End of quote from times. Let's look at some political research which I did on Arlington.

The Board is all Democratic. Arlington County was at one time in the District Columbia, but it was placed back in Virginia. It is now a bedroom community of Washington, D.C. and almost all if the county¡¯s ¡®industry¡¯ is Washington, D.C. created. It is among the top counties of the U.S.A. in personal income. Most employees are government workers. The Pentagon is located there as is Arlington National Cemetery. Ninety percent (90%) are college educated, giving it the distinction of being most the most highly educated county in the nation. The population is 9% Black, 8% Asian, 20% Hispanic and the rest of other different national descendants.

These people holding government jobs are guaranteed full employment and it has the lowest unemployment in the nation. Being financed by Uncle Sam, is part of the reason that it enjoys the lowest tax rates in the region.

IN LIGHT OF THE ABOVE!

You would think that this group of people would hold the strongest allegiance to the nation which looks out for them so well. In the month of November a citizen questioned the lack of the pledge. He got no response from any of the five board members. In December, Robert Molleur a retired veteran questioned that the pledge be added to the addenda. This was rejected. In the January meeting, at the time of public comment, Mr. Molleur got up and explained the greatness of the nation and pointed out the sacrifices of others who made it that was. He then turned to the flag and made the pledge. All in attendance joined him. In the February meeting John Antoinelli, rose and made the pledge in the public comment section. The board members did stand, but few made the pledge.

At this time two members of the board spoke out in opposition. Vice Chairman Charles Monroe speaking from a prepared text is quoted in the Times as saying, "I take offense when some seek to pressure me into, or attempt to dictate, the manner of my personal expressions of Loyalty. The motivation to get the pledge on the agenda was political rather than patriotic. The voices loudest in calling for the pledge are those who are the most critical of political correctness." Chairman Zimmerman said, "It is tragic that symbols of patriotism are used not... to unite us, but to divide us."

In November, President of the Arlington County Taxpayers started a drive to add the pledge to the agenda. Taking a cue from Hillery, Chairman Zimmeron said that it was a cheap political stunt from Republicans against an all-Democratic board. It was reported that the School Board made the pledge at all meetings and all school children were expected to recite the pledge. I suspect that these highly educated Democrats do not know the words, having never believed in the need of patriotism.

NOW COMES THE RED CROSS!

CNS reports that the Red Cross was having its annual Volunteer Recognition dinner in Santa Ana, CA. The Orange County High School of the Arts were scheduled to sing America the Beautiful, Prayer for the Children and God Bless America. The Red Cross told the music director that the religious words in the songs might offend some. Thus, the songs were not sung. It was reported that the Catholic League, furious about the Red Cross "Gag rules," launched a campaign Monday petitioning 100 organizations nationwide to drop their support for the American Red Cross. It's a pity that other religions do not take their fidelity to their religion or free speech seriously.

FINALLY GOT THEIR VISAS!

From News Max.Com comes this report. "Six months after World Trader Center hijack leader Mohamed Atta and his lieutenant Marwan Al-Shehhi had their visas approved for additional study by the Immigration and Naturalization Service." Rudi Dekkers, an employee of Huffman Aviation, displayed for TV cameras the INS forms he received on March 11 approving hijack ringleader Atta and Al-shehhi for continued study in the US. This shows how the Bureaucrats are looking out for the taxpayer. One would think that the ones responsible for this dereliction of duty might be some members of the Arlington Board of Commissioners.

 X-Chairman's Corner week of Feb.28
Franklin Sutton

HE WAS TREATED TOO GENTLY
This is my assessment on the sentence likely to be imposed on the
Missouri druggist, a fellow by the name of Courtney, who pleaded guilty
to altering chemotherapy drugs Taxon and Gemzar. He altered the drugs to
increase the profit on each dose. The result was the possible early
death of patients who was receiving recommended dosages to treat their
cancer.

DO ADVOCACY GROUPS HAVE AS MUCH SENSE AS PEOPLE?
There is a rare form of Alzheimer Disease which represents 1% of all
Alzheimer sufferers. If a person inherits this genetic gene, they are
almost certain to develop this disease in their early thirties.
A lady in California knew that she suffered from this genetic disorder
and could expect the same fate as her brother, sister and father, i.e.,
certain death before 40.

Desiring children but not wanting to pass along her genetic problem, she
contacted Geneticist Yury Verlinsky, a doctor at Chicago's Reproductive
Genetics Institute. He proscribed In-vitro fertilization. This is a
procedure where the eggs of the woman are fertilized in the lab and then
implanted in the womb. But before the implantation Dr. Verlinsky
screened the eggs and selected one which did not bear the gene.
The result was the birth of a healthy daughter who could expect a life
without Alzheimer. The mother is now pregnant again.

You would think that everyone should be happy. Not so. Now for the
busybodies. They cried that the woman was certain to die before she
could possibly raise the children to maturity. Risky said others,
playing god was charged. Many said that it was an unregulated by the
Government.

Most would have voiced no complain had the mother elected to have
produced a child predisposed to an early death. Few would have
disapproved of an abortion to terminate the pregnancy if the fetus were
defective.

The effect of their objections, if followed would deprive the woman of
bearing children who could not be assured of this genetic disorder which
affects only a few families worldwide, or having the fetus screened and
aborted if found to carry the gene.

We have too many busy bodies in this world. (The full report can be
obtained by looking at Today's edition of the Journal of the American
MedicalAssociation.)(Reporter Lindsey Tanner AP Medical Writer also
reported on the case.)

PAT ROBERTSON HAD IT RIGHT!
Pat said that President Bush was wrong when he labeled Islam a peaceful
religion. Pat is quoted as, "Islam is a violent religion that wants to
dominate and then. If need be destroy."

Pat is right. Militant Islam is committed to the destruction of
America, and killing of Jews and Christians.

Some say that it is only a few radical sects which believe that. This
appears to be wrong. Apparently most support terrorism. Let me give you
a simple analogy. My church does not have an orphanage but we monthly
send funds to the Ga. Baptist convention who does. In that sense we
support Orphans.

Most American Mosques send money to terrorist organizations. In that
sense they support terrorism just as much so as my church supports
Orphans.

The charge is made that all religions have at one time had their
religious sanctioned terrorism. This is true. It was almost always only
after the religion became the State religion. It now generally a thing
of the past in all but the Moslem religion.

It is for this reason, based on the view of past history, that our
founding fathers prohibited the Nation from a state sanctioned religion.

We do have the terrorism of the Irish in the fight between Catholics and
Protestants. Those churches in the United States sending funds to the
Irish Republican Army are in the same camp as the radical Islamic
people.
